Dear Fifth Grade Families,
We have greatly enjoyed getting to know your fifth graders. We began our first day with a 5th/6th grade assembly in which your students were inducted into their houses! Your students have been learning to successfully open and organize their lockers and prepare all the materials they need for class. We also read our opening fairy tale: “Rikki Tikki Tavi” by Rudyard Kipling. We began our studies of place value, maps, scientific journals, and nouns, and we annotated our first poem for this year, “If,” also by Rudyard Kipling.
This Friday will be our first early release day. This year we will begin dismissing students at 1:25 p.m. on early release days.
