Dear Parents,
We are very excited this year to be carrying on the special Great Hearts
tradition of celebrating “Great Hearts Day” on Friday, February 14th.
At Great Hearts, we make it a habit to celebrate the curriculum instead of
holidays and most often do it through literature celebrations. On this
special day, in our classrooms, we will be celebrating all that Great Hearts
embodies: those things that make us unique as scholars in a community of
learners, and particularly the virtue of friendship.
We would also like to invite
our scholars to create small friendship cards for their classmates. This
is an optional activity. Should you choose to
participate, please observe the following guidelines:
- Scholars should make one card for each person in the class
- Cards should be homemade (not store bought).
- Cards should focus on the virtue of friendship and NOT Valentine’s Day. (i.e. “You are a great friend” or “Thank you for being my friend.”)
- NO candy!
- Please send completed cards to school in a Ziploc bag on Thursday, February 13th.
- Cards may be addressed “To my friend,” or the class list may be used to address cards individually. (A class list was sent home on Monday.)
