My understanding is that items deemed non-essential on Amazon will have delayed shipping. It is usually preferable for students to have a physical copy of the book. However, considering the unusual circumstances right now, you might consider purchasing an e-book copy of Where the Red Fern Grows. If you buy the kindle book from Amazon, it can be read on an e-reader, on a computer using kindle cloud reader, or an a phone or tablet device using the free kindle app. Here is a link to purchase the kindle e-book. You may also choose to check your local Half-Price Books or a locally owned bookstore for their purchasing options.
Update: You may also be able to download an ebook from your local library. However, they may have limited digital copies or require you to "return" the download at a certain date which could be before we finish the book. I know one parent checked out the ebook from his local library and downloaded it to a kindle using the Overdrive app. You can also check out ebooks and audiobooks from the San Antonio public libraries using the free Libby app. Check your library's website for information on how to check out an ebook.
